Rescue Me

A ballad about a relationship that's falling apart. Home recording.

Wake Me in Paris

This ballad about long-distance love is a semi-finalist in the 2017 International Songwriting Competition. Co-written and Produced by Scott Mickelson. Studio recording.

Eric Butterfield is a singer/songwriter from Northern California, where he performs as a solo acoustic act. He uses the nuanced textures of indie rock, Americana and alt-country to tell personal yet universal stories.

His first single as a solo artist, “Wake Me in Paris” (co-written with Scott Mickelson), was a semi-finalist in the 2017 International Songwriting Competition (unsigned category), as well as a semi-finalist in the 2018 Unsigned Only music competition. His soon-to-be-released song, "In Love With Love," was a semi-finalist in the Song of the Year songwriting contest.

Eric also creates music under the moniker, Sons of the Golden West. Tracing both sides of his family to the days of the Mayflower, as well as being a descendant of newly landed immigrants, Eric writes songs with a sense of a rapidly changing landscape and history being lost. Travel has played a big role in his life. He's lived in Denver, Colorado, soaking up the vibrant Americana music scene, and played in an indie rock band while living in Dublin, Ireland. Wanderlust has taken him across Europe, coast to coast in the United States, and down the length of South America, as well as other destinations.

Eric's music has appeared in more than 240 TV episodes, on major broadcast and cable TV stations. His TV show credits include Last Call With Carson Daly (NBC), True Life (MTV), Real Housewives of Atlanta (Bravo), Return to Amish (TLC), Last Chance Highway (Animal Planet), Porter Ridge (Discovery), No Kitchen Required (BBC America), True Life (MTV), Brain Games (National Geographic Explorer), and Flipping Out (Bravo). His song "Teriza" appeared in an online video narrated by Ashley Judd, "Help Save Idaho's Wolves" (
