Daniel Castady is a multi-talented writer and musician with the unique gift of being able to write a demo of a song, and then bring it all the way across the finish line — without leaving his home studio. Throughout the years, he's started many successful projects in Chicago, from Showoff (Maverick/Warner Brothers) to his current band, The Fold (http://thefoldrock.com), who have just released their 6th studio album. "It all started when I would hear songs like "For the Longest Time" by Billy Joel at a young age. I would picture him emerging from his studio clutching that demo, in the wee hours of the morning, and popping it into his car stereo on the way home. You can tell it's all him, he must have been so proud of what he had just captured! That's what I want to do." says Castady. "I grabbed my Dad's four-track recorder that day and set out on a journey, I've never looked back." He began playing the drums at age 10, when he would steal his sisters rarely used drumsticks every time her back was turned. At 17, he was fresh out of high school and balking at the thought of college. He got off the hook at just the right time, when his budding band Showoff, who later signed with Madonna's label Maverick, set out to LA to work with rookie producer John Feldmann (Story of the Year, The Used, Goldfinger). "Working with John opened my eyes, he had SO much experience with his band Goldfinger, yet we were the first band that he had ever produced. It was an amazing time, all around." At age 23, in the demise of the band, he moved to lead vocals and The Fold was born. Over the past 7 years, Daniel has become an acclaimed songwriter in his own right, writing for several brands (AT&T, Hersheys, Nissan, Pepsi, Subway), sports (Chicago Cubs, all NFL Teams, NASCAR, MLB Kids and NHRA), and tv/film (LEGO Ninjago, NFL Super Bowl XLVIII). Whether it's a 30 second jingle, an introspective love song, or the theme for a new show on television, Daniel sees every writing opportunity the with the same optimism he did when he wrote his first song — a chance to leave his mark.
